What is mixed reality? How does it differ from virtual reality and augmented reality? Or is it the same thing?

Mixed reality (MR) is where the real and virtual world merges, producing new environments and where physical and digital objects can co-exist and interact in real time, however it does not take place only in the physical or virtual world and is a mix of reality and virtual reality which encompasses both augmented reality and augmented virtuality, essentially combining the best aspects of both VR and AR.

Within a MR environment users can seamlessly navigate through both real and virtual landscapes at the same time, instead of residing in an entirely virtual world as in VR, virtual objects are anchored into the users real world space, augmenting the real world environment thus making the virtual interactions appear real.

These interactions mimic our natural behaviour of interaction, for example objects getting smaller the further away you get and changing perspectives as you move around it.
