Augmented Reality Advertising: Get It Right

Augmented Reality advertising is becoming hugely popular amongst marketers – and for a good reason. But technology itself does not guarantee great ROI.

What’s great about advertising your product or service using AR technology is that when done right, it WORKS.

Any advertising method works when done right.

But augmented reality advertising offers more than any other medium.

What can you do to make sure it’ll work?

Don’t Forget The Data

Just because the technology appeals to most customer groups, doesn’t mean that the ad will.

Do your research (if you haven’t already) and keep that in mind when designing your next campaign.

Things like your customer avatar, demographics, interests or values matter – a lot.

Data should never be dismissed, regardless the method / technology you’re using.

Don’t Forget The Value, Either

Make the offer compelling – don’t just hope the augmented reality advert will bring sales in because of what it is.

AR is a great tool to solve user problems, but it’s just that—a tool.

Focus on how your product or service can solve your customer’s pain points instead.

If that solution utilizes AR, then great.

But using AR for AR’s sake when something else will work better will result in your product failing, no matter how cool it is.

Market It

You know the saying:

“Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing but nobody else does.”

Don’t expect users to come running to see your AR advert just because it’s AR.

Let them know it’s there – and invite them to join the experience.

For a campaign to be successful, you simply need to promote it.

At the end of the day, Augmented Reality is just a tool.

No amount of AR – even stunning AR – will ever make up for bad advert design or boring content.
